Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) cooperated with BEC Tero Entertainment, the organiser of the PTT Thailand Open ATP tennis event, to host the BMA Tennis Hot Shots 2010. The BMA project is now in its fourth year and allows Thai youngsters to learn new techniques from professional tennis players.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paripatra. Players and coaches from Thailand’s national team joined, including Danai Udomchoke, Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana, Wittaya Samrej, Phacharaphon Kamsaman and Attaphon Rittiwattanaphong. Over 200 up-and-coming tennis players aged between 8 – 18 years old participated. The players were selected from the Bangkok Tennis Training Centre as well as from candidates who applied to be a part of the project. Apart from getting to learn from professional tennis players, they also received four tickets to watch afternoon matches at the PTT Thailand Open on Tuesday September 28 and Wednesday September 29 September at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
“I am very happy to be a part of the tennis clinic and to be able to teach youngsters about techniques such as warming up to hitting the ball. Their determination makes me feel proud that Thai children these days are becoming more interested in tennis. Many of them have great potential. I believe that there will be certainly be top tennis players from our country in the future,” said Danai Udomchoke.
The BMA Tennis Hot Shots 2010 took place on Saturday September 4, 2010 at Wachirabenjatat Park and on Sunday September 5, 2010 at the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand under His Majesty the King’s Patronage from 10.00 am – 12.00 pm.
