Spanish sensation and the world’s #8 player Fernando Verdasco, has been a late confirmation adding to the stellar field for the PTT Thailand Open 2010.
Verdasco’s confirmation was secured overnight after the agent of world #44 Fernando Gonzalez informed organizers that Gonzalez would not be able to participate because of ongoing knee problems.
Mr. Suwat Lipatapanlop, Chariman of the PTT Thailand Open Executive Committee said that, “We are absolutely delighted that we now have Spain’s #1 and #2 players competing in this year’s tournament. Fernando Verdasco is a champion player and we are thrilled that he quickly accepted our invitation to join the tournament.”
Fernando Verdasco is one of the most popular players in tennis and has won five ATP World Tour singles titles including two this year in Barcelona and San Jose.
Verdasco will join the tournament as the #2 seed and adds even more glamour and star power to a field that already includes world #1 Rafael Nadal, Juan Martin Del Potro, Jurgen Melzer, Ernests Gulbis as well as Thai wildcard recipients Danai Udomchoke and Kittipong Wachiramanowong.
The PTT Thailand Open will be held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from 25 September to 3 October 2010. Tickets are still available at all Thaiticketmajor outlets, at www.thaiticketmajor.com or by calling 02 262 3838.
