BABYMETAL was formed in 2010. In 2014, they took the stage in a two-day performance at Nippon Budokan, making them the youngest female act to headline there. In the same year, they released their first studio album BABYMETAL, which instantly made it onto the US Billboard charts. Shortly after, the band started their first-ever world tour and got an opportunity to perform on the main stage ofUK’s prestigious festivalSonisphere Festival 2014 in front of 65,000 people. Not only that, they also performed as a supporting act for Lady Gaga in her tour ArtRave: The Artpop Ball 2014.

In 2015, BABYMETAL received various awards from prominent UK music magazines like KERRANG! and METAL HAMMER, the first Japanese band to receive these awards. In April 2016, BABYMETAL released their second album METAL RESISTANCE. The album not only made it on the charts in their homeland but also landed at #15 onthe UK Official Album Chart. In the US, their album climbed to #39 on the Billboard 200, making history by being the first Japanese band tomake it to the top 40 in 53 years. In the same month, BABYMETAL headlinedat theprestigiousWembley Arena, making them the first Japanese artist to perform there.

In September, BABYMETAL completed their first world tour back at home by performing a two gigs at Tokyo Dome with over 110,000 fans in attendance. On top of that, BABYMETAL also performed as special guests for several top international bands like RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES and KORN.

Their latest album, “METAL GALAXY” released on October 11th, debutedat#2 on the Billboard Rock Album Charts and #13 on the Top 200 Charts. They became the first Japanese act who won 4 other categories.
