ชื่อโครงการ “โรงเรียนโมเดลต้นแบบ เกษตรผสมผสาน”

               อาหารคือหนึ่งในสิ่งสำคัญที่สุดสำหรับการมีชีวิตอยู่บนโลกของคุณใช่หรือไม่?

ถ้าวันนึงคุณมีเงินจำกัด...คุณจะเลือกซื้ออาหารหรือทำอย่างอื่น?

คุณคิดว่าปัจจุบันมีพื้นที่ทางการเกษตรมากพอที่จะเลี้ยงคนทั้งโลกได้จริงหรือ?

ถ้ามีเงิน แต่ไม่มีผลิตภัณฑ์ทางการเกษตรมาขายที่ตลาดหรือร้านค้าคุณจะทำอย่างไร?

ดิฉัน Miss Thailand World ได้พบคำตอบที่ยั่งยืนให้กับคำถามเหล่านี้ ที่นี่...โรงเรียนบ้านห้วยปู อำเภอกัลยาณิวัฒนา จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ จังหวัดบ้านเกิดของดิฉัน ซึ่งอยู่ทางภาคเหนือของประเทศ

         ดิฉัน ได้ร่วมกับมูลนิธิตะวันฉาย องค์กรที่ไม่แสวงหาผลกำไร เดินทางไปยังโรงเรียนแห่งนี้ เพื่อร่วมสร้างและพัฒนาการเกษตรผสมผสานให้กับคนในท้องถิ่น โดยเริ่มจากเด็กและเยาวชนในโรงเรียน เพราะพวกเขามีอิทธิพลต่อพ่อแม่ญาติพี่น้อง และจะเป็นผู้ใหญ่ในวันข้างหน้า

          เพราะที่นี่อยู่ห่างจากความเจริญ สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเล 1,455 เมตร การเดินทางเข้าออกยากลำบาก ต้องใช้รถกระบะข้ามเขาหลายลูก มีโค้งและความสูงลาดชัน ถือเป็นข้อจำกัดที่ทำให้พวกเขาได้เห็นความสำคัญของการรู้จักพึ่งพาตนเอง โดยเฉพาะในเรื่องจำเป็นพื้นฐาน คือ อาหาร

          โดยโรงเรียนดังกล่าวมีเด็กนักเรียนจำนวน 90 คน ทั้งหมดเป็นชนเผ่า “ปาเกอกะญอ” มีนักเรียน 30 คนอาศัยกินนอนที่โรงเรียน เราร่วมกันทำโครงการ “เกษตรแบบผสมผสาน” ...โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ถือเป็น “โมเดลต้นแบบ” ที่จะมีอีกหลายโรงเรียนมาเรียนรู้และเจริญรอยตามเมื่อเห็นผลสำเร็จเห็นอย่างชัดเจน

           เราช่วยกันสร้างเล้าไก่ขนาดพอเหมาะ เพื่อให้เด็กๆ ได้มีไข่ไก่ไว้รับประทานเสริมสร้างโปรตีน เราทำแปลงเกษตรโดยปลูกผักบุ้งเป็นอย่างแรก และจะหมุนเวียนไปด้วยผักชนิดอื่นๆ ตามฤดูกาล ซึ่งทั้งเล้าไก่และแปลงเกษตรแน่นอนว่ามันจะต้องปลอดสารเคมี

           โครงการ “เกษตรแบบผสมผสาน” เล็กๆ ที่โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงการสร้างแหล่งอาหารเท่านั้น แต่คือการจุดประกายให้พวกเขาได้เรียนรู้ที่จะพึ่งพาตนเอง ยืนอยู่ได้ด้วยตัวเองอย่างพอเพียงและยั่งยืน ได้เรียนรู้ในการร่วมแรงร่วมใจ ได้เรียนรู้ที่จะรับผิดชอบชีวิตของพวกเขา เรียนรู้ที่จะเป็นผู้ให้ต่อส่วนรวม

และเราจะกลับมายังโรงเรียนแห่งนี้อย่างสม่ำเสมอเพื่อติดตามผลของ “โมเดลต้นแบบ” เพื่อขยายผลต่อไป

              Food is one of the most essential factors for maintaining life.

But if one day you had limited means…would you still buy food or would you find other ways of acquiring food?

If you had money but there were no agricultural products sold at the market or stores, what would you do?

I am Thailand’s Miss World contestant and I have the answers to these questions right here at Ban Huay Poo School, Kanlayaniwattana in my hometown of Chiang Mai. 

         I have been working with Tawanchai Foundation, a non-profit organisation for some time now. We went to the school to create and develop an integrated farming plan for the locals. We started working with students and youngsters and we believe that they have the power to influence adults in their families and that they are the future.

         The school is located in a rural area, 1,455 metres above sea level so travelling to and from the neighbourhood is difficult. With such a challenge in transportation, it is important that they know how to rely on themselves, especially in terms of food production.

         The school has 90 students - all of whom are from the Pgazkoenyau tribe. Thirty of the students live in the school and we hope that it will one day become a model for integrated farming for other schools in the community.

         We built chicken coops to raise chickens for their eggs and meat. We grew morning glory on our first farm and grew other kinds of vegetables in other plots. Both our chicken and vegetable farms are totally organic.

         The Integrated Farming project not only produces food for the school, it also inspires young people to live sustainably and sufficiently. The project has also taught them how to work together as a team and to take care of themselves and their community.

We will visit the school regularly and apply this “model” we created in other places in the future.
