As a friend of the UNDP, Miss Thailand World 2015 Thanyachanok “Frenchfine” Moonnilta continues to contribute to society. After successfully taking solar panels and solar lanterns to students in Mae Hong Son, she has journeyed on with the aim of reviving the mangrove forests of the Bangla community in Phuket.
 
              The beauty queen joined hands with the Japan Foundation and 13 children from a number of Asian countries who all went to admire the last remaining mangrove forest in Phuket. With extreme hard work from the locals to preserve the forest, it is now lush once again following the devastating 2004 tsunami. Frenchfine shared her experience with us:

               “I’d like to thank the UNDP and BEC-Tero for giving me the chance to be here. I’ve had the opportunity to give back to society, to work for children and to conserve the environment. Today, I’ve got to work with children from countries that were affected by the 2004 tsunami including the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia. Humans have had a drastic impact on the environment, including mangrove forests, so we’re all here to ensure that we reforest these areas so that they grow in abundance once again.”
